AlbumLinks takes advantage of the large new icons in Mac OS X to distribute free themed icons of popular album covers.

The icons are attached to small programs that control iTunes, the popular MP3 player supplied with Mac's, this means that if you own an album, you can download the cover icon and use it to play the album from the OS X Dock.

Since its launch in August 2002, AlbumLinks has attracted thousands of visitors and now contains hundreds of icons, many fans now contribute icons to the collection.

Design Considerations

The site is designed to be immediately familiar to Mac OS X users, all the site elements behave in a similar fashion to the OS X experience, while the 'browser' allows the selection of icons in an iTunes like interface.

The graphics have been carefully chosen to allow maximum compression, so that while the pages are 'filled' with images they still load very quickly.
